Wazdan’s new Greek license increases audience in regulated iGaming markets
In its continued focus on regulated market expansion, iGaming software provider, Wazdan, has obtained its manufacturer A1 suitability license from Greece’s Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC).
The accreditation marks the game developer‘s successful entry into its 16th jurisdiction, which it lauds as “one of the most dynamic regions in Europe” in regard to “speed of economic growth and regional connectivity.”
Courtesy of its new Greek license, a good number of the provider’s best-performing video slots will be accessible in the country that sits strategically at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Highlighting the selection are popular Hold the Jackpot titles, along with the Power of Gods series, including Power of Gods: The Pantheon, and player favorite games, 9 Lions, and the Irish-themed, Larry the Leprechaun.
Enabling legislation:
After a new online gambling reform bill found success in the Greek parliament in 2019, the licensing process was opened in the southeastern European country by the HGC in October 2020. The reforms were part of a wide-ranging package, called “Invest in Greece,” designed to boost economic development in the country.
Suppliers have wasted no time entering what is one of Europe’s “most coveted” regulated markets as the new regulation came into effect on August 1, 2021.
Regulated market growth:
Commenting on the accreditation via a company press release, Andrzej Hyla, Head of Sales for Wazdan, said they are “delighted” to receive their Greek license as they continue to focus on their expansion in regulated markets.
“We’re very proud to receive our 16th independent market certification, and we are very eager to see how our games are received in this exciting market,” Hyla said.
Belarus debut:
The certification is on the heels of Wazdan’s Belarius debut with GG.by iGaming brand Grand Casino, made possible by the certification of 30 of the slots supplier’s player favorite and newest titles for the Belarussian market where only land-based casino operators are permitted to apply for an iGaming license. Marking yet another market debut, the approval makes Wazdan’s content available to all licensees in the Eastern European country.
In keeping with its global expansion plans, over the last 12 months, the Malta-based game developer has entered Switzerland via Zürich-based operator Swiss Casinos after having already secured the necessary ISO 27001 certification, Colombia, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Italy, and New Jersey where it received a transactional waiver from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) in preparation for its debut in the United States.
